Another week

I'm trying. I really am. I will be better next week in putting commentary up here.
It's just that it's summer, and Old Man Huggies is staying out of the heat and thus is not providing me with much fodder.

And then I go on YouTube and find this, and I'm feeling so much better about being 33 years old.

And here's a picture.

I took this picture with my camera phone yesterday.
I think the picture quality is good enough for what I want to do.

Sunday Morning Coming Down

It's an odd feeling, drinking coffee on a Sunday morning, with nothing to do until tomorrow morning.
No homework or team meetings or big papers...

It feels vaguely familiar, and yet...
and yet...

Feeling Tired

It's been a while.
Here's a quick update:

I've been re-reading some old classics in my time here in DC. Mark Twain in particular. There is a very sharp, weathered sense of humor there that makes you think he's laughing at you. Or maybe I'm just slow.

B-licious and I finally had our long-awaited blog summit. Several anti-elderly initiatives were decided upon that will be unveiled in the coming months. I'll give you a hint. One of them is named "Operation Grocery Store Checkout Line." Yup. I'll let you figure that out.

Finally, the Czar wanted me to pass this story along to you.
And this picture:

Chris Matthews.

Chris Matthews about Barack Obama: "Is there anything he can do in terms of, is he too University of Chicago or too South Side Chicago for those people? Which way is he going too far?"

Frankie Machine about Chris Matthews: "Is there anything he can say that isn't shit?"

Fuck off, Chris Matthews.

Here's my challenge to you. Meet me anywhere in DC, and I will do any and all of the following:
Outdrink
Outthink
Outclass you.

I'll be too University of Chicago AND too South Side for you. You won't know what hit you. Take the Frankie Machine challenge. Have your people call my people. In fact, bring your pal Old Man Huggies.

Sad excuse

Well, Frankie's back in DC for the summer.
The blog will be updated whenever I get to a wifi cafe. Which probably won't be this week because I have so much much to do getting settled.

Also, B-licious and Frankie are hosting a blog summit at The Brickskeller. John McCain's comment about vetoing beer is at the top of the agenda. The Elderly Menace will NOT veto my Oberon.

Well, when you put it THAT way...

The difference is really apparent, isn't it?

Sorry for the YouTube overload.

R.I.P., Bo Diddley

Since it's fitting to personalize eulogies, here's mine.
I saw Bo Diddley twice. Once at the University of Chicago in 1996. He had been having back problems, and had to play most of the show sitting down. Yet, he still managed to hurl great slabs of sound at us. There he was, a giant of a man, and a creator of Rock and Roll. And I, all of 20 years old, was three feet from him.
Near the end of the show, I hadn't heard the one song I wanted. So I yelled to him, "Who Do You Love, Bo? Who Do You Love." He looked at me, shook his finger at me, and said, "Allright. For you." And ripped into the loudest thing I had ever heard.

He was awesome, and his influence will live on. Thank you, Ellas.

You Tube

Thanks to Things Younger Than McCain.

Dear Old Man Huggies,
We have the technology, we have the energy, we don't need naps three times a day.
Give it up. You and the Elderly Menace can not win this one.

Sincerely,

Frankie Machine
