I warned you people.

When I first started this blog, I posted a few times about people putting kids on leashes. Here, we see that the iron fist of fascism has come to the Family Circus.

What the hell was Jeffy doing that was so wrong as to warrant the leash? He's not even in kindergarten! And yet, he gets reined in after showing natural curiousity, enthusiasm, and energy.

This is the world that children are growing up in now. The message is clear: don't try to act up at all, or you get the leash. Why didn't Bill Keane just show the dad in Family Circus sedating poor little Jeffy? You know: "Who wants to take their Ritalin?"

"Not Me!"

The Elderly Menace

This is the funniest thing I saw all month.

He kinda looks like Old Man Huggies, doesn't he?

Baseball!

Spring is about here, and soon parking spots in my neighborhood will be fought over as though they are the Falkland Islands.
Here is what some old people think of baseball today:
He said his generation didn't know of vials, but had its own issues with stuff in bottles.

"The ballplayers [today] are working out 12 months a year. In the old days, we used to drink," he said, laughing. "Eighty percent of the money we spent on fine women and whiskey, and the other 20 percent we spilled."

Lee seemed almost happy that he missed out on baseball's big money.

"Well, I'd have a lot of money, but I'd probably be dead, the way we partied," he said.

Society has taken the steroid issue far too seriously, he said.

"Everyone is as serious as a heart attack. The thing we've got to do is make people, nicer, kinder, gentler. Open doors for people, and do charity events like this," he said. "Clean up society! The game is fine."

It reminds me of this article:
In My Day, Ballplayers Were For Shit

In My Day, Ballplayers Were For Shit

It seems everywhere I go these days, some young fella's jibber-jabbering about how great some ballplayer of today is.

The Onion is ripping off this blog.

And to that, I say, "Good show, The Onion. I've been stealing your material since 1994."

The Old Man Huggies Demographic

Mary Worth is simply depressing.

We really need to kick her off the COMICS page.

Catching Up

I know, I know. I have no excuse for my absence.
But I heard about this proposition over in Kenya , and thought, "Absolutely."

NOW THAT OUR LEADERS ARE agreeing to agree, there is one item they should add to the agenda that all Kenyans would love to see — an age limit for presidential and parliamentary candidates.
As constitutional amendments become the focus in the near future, Kenya should definitely borrow a leaf from Benin, whose constitution sets the age limit for presidential candidates at 70. I would strongly recommend that 65 years be the age limit for both presidential and parliamentary candidates in Kenya.

Absolutely. Import some of that spirit.

As a result, they hang on to power long after they should have let go to allow younger, more agile, fresher and perfectly capable minds to take over the leadership responsibilities in a fashion in keeping with the times.

Absolutely. I didn't want to say anything, but Old Man Huggies comes to mind.

And there's even a message for George Bush:

There is life after presidency. Retirement of a president does not mean that he goes home to herd goats, though that is an option for the willing.

Watch out, goats.

Wilco!

Many thanks to all the folks who put up their Winter Residency clips on YouTube.

Note to John McCain: Jeff Tweedy is backing Obama. You're in trouble. You cannot defeat the force of this rock.

Old Man Huggies is Your Jalopy

If what this website says is true, we are in a lot of trouble.

The Washington Post is a mouthpiece

for the Elderly Menace.
Can you believe this?

Change in expectations is a generational thing, experts say. People who grew up during the Depression were happy to have a job and stuck with one for a lifetime. Many members of generations X and Y were raised in a different light. They expect a buffet of opportunities and are peeved when they don't materialize.

Narcissism and entitlement among college students have increased steadily since 1979, according to a study to be published this year in the Journal of Personality. Between that year and 2006, 16,000 college students were asked to pick between such paired statements as "I expect a great deal from other people" and "I like to do things for other people," and "I will never be satisfied until I get all that I deserve" and "I will take my satisfactions as they come."

Fortunately, Positively Unemployed's message is out there to counter its lies.

Interesting article, but I'm not sure why pieces such as this one constantly have to bash young people.

Have you ever had the pleasure of working with old farts getting paid 6 figures who constantly complain about "getting screwed" because they had to pay $10 toward an expensive doctor visit or medical procedure?

I worked with an old timer, making really good money, who had the benefit of the govt. and insurance paying $thousands$ for knee surgeries which ultimately failed because he was at least 100 pounds overweight (he ate a horrible diet and never exercised, even though he was Type II diabetic).

And just try telling these people that they should take a bit more responsibility for their lives and their actions and see how far you get.

I'm proud of you, GMU92. Keep the message spreading. This is how we win.

A Proud Moment

A Google search for "Old Man Huggies" has your favorite blog as the top result.

The Elderly Menace might as well give up now. It's going to be a long presidential campaign, and I got plenty more where that came from.
